Great Arkansas Pig Out to Benefit School Counts!
The Great Arkansas Pig Out (GAPO) Festival Board and the Morrilton Area Chamber of Commerce have supported a successful community and regional festival for 20 years. To celebrate the continuing success of the festival, the GAPO Board recently announced their ongoing commitment to the Conway County School Counts! initiative by naming the initiative as beneficiary of their endeavors with the festival for the second consecutive year.
According to GAPO 2010 Chairperson Kristi Strain, “We continue to support the promotion of higher education to students in Conway County. By partnering with School Counts! again this year, we hope to further emphasize the value of education and a highly qualified workforce to area parents, students, residents, and businesses.”
The Initiative was begun in 2006 to enhance Conway County’s economic development activities by promoting continued education and training for the graduates of the public and private high schools in Conway County. The initiative has developed a formal partnership between the K-12 schools in Conway County, UACCM and area businesses and industries. This partnership emphasizes the importance of education in the development of a better skilled workforce to attract and retain businesses and industries in the county.
The annual GAPO Festival will be held June 25 and 26, 2010 at the Morrilton City Park and will feature food, activities and live entertainment by Wade Bowen, Chuck Allen Floyd, the Randy Rogers Band, Matt Stell and The Crashers and the Culpepper Mountain Band.
