Choir Members Excel at Competition...Prepare for Free Concert

Kudos for the Choir

Three members of the UACCM choir recently competed in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Regional Conference held at Harding University in Searcy. UACCM choir members Jackson Flowers, Aubrey Hoult, and Kendra Thomas all made it into the semi-final round of the event, competing against music majors from colleges and universities in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Contestants prepared three classical songs and performed in front of a panel of judges made up of college-level music instructors, finishing in the top four performers in their category, which allowed them to advance to the semi-final round.

According to UACCM Vocal/Choral Music Instructor Shannah Cummings, “In regional competition, making it to the semi-final round is a definite accomplishment. I am extremely proud of the students and their accomplishments in this endeavor.”

Flowers, Hoult, and Thomas are three of the choir members who will perform in the upcoming holiday concert at UACCM. Scheduled for Sunday, December 6, the concert will feature a mixture of timeless Christmas carols, modern day holiday tunes, and more to get the audience into the spirit of the season. The concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the UACCM Fine Arts Auditorium and is open to the public with free admission. For more information on the concert, contact Shannah Cummings at (501) 977-2198 or at cummings@uaccm.edu.
