Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund Recognized for Contributions

The Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund Inc. (FSSF) was recently presented with the Excellence in Education Award by the Morrilton Area Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented during the annual Chamber Banquet to Fund President Keith Waddell of Tiger Integrated Services and Fund Vice President George Sheffer of SEECO Inc., a subsidiary of Southwestern Energy.
The FSSF was established in 2006, and is a volunteer organization with members representing companies working in the Fayetteville Shale Play. It aims to enable individuals to pursue educational opportunities that will prepare them for jobs in the Arkansas oil and gas industry by providing financial support through scholarships, raising awareness for careers in the oil and gas industry, and creating good will for the industry and its contributions to local communities and the state.
Through fundraising efforts, the FSSF raised approximately $15,000 in its first year to provide scholarships to students enrolled in the UACCM Petroleum Technology program. In its second year, the FSSF has raised more than $70,000 for scholarships.
