PUBLIC NOTICE The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) is considering a request for Federal assistance from the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton for the site prep to build a Workforce Training Center in Morrilton Arkansas. Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), EDA is conducting an assessment of the potential of the proposed project to affect the environment and/or historic properties. The project is the site preparation for the Workforce Training Center. The project will be located at the campus of the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton. UACCM TO SHOW 'CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER' FOR FREE MOVIE NIGHT

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton announces plans for “Starlight Cinema,” a free outdoor community movie night. The event will feature “Captain America: the Winter Soldier” Tuesday, July 15, beginning at sundown on the lawn near the Plaza courtyard on the UACCM campus. Steve Rogers continues his journey as the super-powered American soldier who is grasping to find his place in a modern world after being frozen in ice since World War II with this Marvel Studios sequel. Chris Evans returns to star, with community director/producers Joe and Anthony Russo helming. The film is rated PG-13 and has a total running time of 136 minutes. Attendees should bring blankets or lawn chairs. A concession stand will be open beginning by 8:00 p.m. and will have Coke products, bottled water, popcorn, and candy for sale. UACCM SPRING 2014 GRADUATION

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton spring 2014 commencement ceremonies were held Saturday, May 10, at the H.B. White Auditorium of Morrilton High School. UACCM held two ceremonies, the first at 10:00 a.m. and the second at 1:00 p.m. This year, 232 graduates earned 315 awards. These included 166 associate degrees, 49 technical certificates and 100 certificates of proficiency. UACCM Board of Visitors members Doug Brandon, Ancel Carlon, and Susan Gunderman attended the ceremonies. UACCM outgrew its facilities to host graduation on its campus some years ago, and the South Conway County School District School Board allows the College to hold its commencement ceremonies in the auditorium at the high school. Even still, the faculty, staff, administration, family, and friends who gather to show their support to graduates exceed the capacity of the auditorium. UACCM TO SHOW 'DRAFT DAY' FOR FREE MOVIE NIGHT

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton announces plans for “Starlight Cinema,” a free outdoor community movie night. The event will feature “Draft Day” Tuesday, June 17, beginning at sundown on the lawn near the Plaza courtyard on the UACCM campus. Ivan Reitman's “Draft Day” stars Kevin Costner as Sonny Weaver Jr., the general manager of the Cleveland Browns. With 13 hours until the beginning of the NFL draft, Sonny is informed by the team's owner (Frank Langella) that if Sonny doesn't make a splash and generate ticket sales, he's going to be fired. That prompts the GM to take a trade offer from another team that gives him the first pick in the draft, in exchange for three future first-round picks. The move outrages the Browns' head coach and forces all of the team's scouts to dig up what they can find about the pick that everyone, including the owner, expects them to make – a highly touted quarterback from Wisconsin. CORDER JOINS UACCM FOUNDATION BOARD

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Foundation Board announces Michele Corder as its newest member. Corder and her husband, Neil, live in Conway, but Michele was born and raised in Morrilton. A graduate of Morrilton High School, Corder continued her education at the University of Central Arkansas and completed a travel degree at South Central Career College in Little Rock. After working in the industry for four years, she opened and ran a travel agency in Conway from 1993 until 2001. At that time, she went into the mortgage industry and is currently working as a mortgage lender with Wonder State Mortgage. Corder said she joined the board because she wanted to be involved with an organization that gives back to the community through education and jobs. Corder added, “I believe that UACCM is a huge asset to not only Conway County but also the surrounding counties. I am excited for this opportunity and hope that I can help make a lasting impact.” The UAC...

News for students impacted by the recent tornado

A message from Diana Arn, Vice Chancellor for Academic Services, April 30, 2014: For students impacted by the devastating storms that occurred Sunday in Arkansas: UACCM will give students the following options concerning finals which are scheduled May 5-May 8 and final homework assignments. Option 1. Students can receive as their final grade for the classes in which they are currently enrolled, the grade that is recorded in eLearning after all current assignments have been graded. Example: If the grade currently shows a grade of “B”, that grade would be recorded as the final grade. Option 2. Students can receive a grade of “I” for the classes in which they are currently enrolled. The students would then work with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Services or Vice Chancellor for Student Services to determine a date in which finals are taken and outstanding homework is completed. Members of the Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund Board announced donations totaling $115,000 toward the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton GIVE MEANING campaign and scholarships to Petroleum Technology students during an event Thursday, April 17, at UACCM. FSSF Board Vice-President Jon Swann, right, along with past President and current Board Member Donnie Bates, from left, present University of Arkansas System President Dr. Donald Bobbitt and UACCM Chancellor Dr. Larry Davis a $115,000 donation from the FSSF Board. FSSF Board Vice President Jon Swann announced at the event that the Board would donate $57,500 in scholarships to students in UACCM’s Petroleum Technology program as well as an additional $57,500 to the campaign. The Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund is a non-profit organization made up of member companies who work in the state’s natural gas industry.
