The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Workforce Training & Community Education department is now accepting applications for the new, non-credit, Commercial Driver Training Program.  Beginning in June, the program is four to seven weeks, consisting of 160-164 training hours. Wayne Smith Trucking generously donated a 2007 Great Dane trailer for use by the class.  Program participants must be 21 years of age and be able to pass a DOT physical, background check, and drug screening. Participants must be able to read, speak, and comprehend the English language sufficiently to meet the Department of Transportation regulations. Participants may need to be available for some evening on-the-road training. Upon completion of the program, students will be tested by the State Police or a third party tester for their Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s Earle Love Child Study Center has immediate openings for in the preschool room.   The preschool room is for children ages 3 to 6 years old.   The center is open 7:15 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and is staffed by UACCM employees, as well as students from UACCM’s early childhood education program.   The cost per week is $100, with a $30 enrollment fee.   This fee and a current shot record are both due at the time of enrollment and a $60 supply fee is assessed yearly. The Earle Love Child Study Center provides child care services to students and community families.   The Center has a Level Two Better Beginnings rating awarded by DHS/Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education. Back by popular demand is UACCM's Dog Obedience Class! Instructor Gretchen Schol will be teaching this 5-week class geared to teach dogs and their owners the basics of obedience.  Join her Tuesdays from June 28 - July 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to learn the tips and tricks of training your dog.  The course is $50 for each dog and will be held between the BTC and Fine Arts buildings by the outdoor pavilion.   
 Adults age 18 and over are invited to sign up for one of the ten spots in this course.  There must be one adult for each dog enrolled in the class.  All dogs must have proof of current vaccinations (rabies, distemper) from a veterinarian and must be old enough to have finished their shots. The instructor reserves the right to not accept aggressive dogs or females in season. All dogs must be on a leash at all times.

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Foundation’s “Give Meaning” campaign received $5,000 from the Morrilton Rotary Club.   This donation will be used to support the new Workforce Training Center at UACCM, as well as scholarships and academic programs.   The award was presented during the club’s noon meeting at the Morrilton Country Club. The estimated 58,000-square-feet Workforce Training Center at UACCM will house many of the college’s existing technical programs including automotive service technology; welding; industrial mechanics and maintenance technology; and heating, air conditioning and refrigeration technology.   In addition to technical programs, an open space for workforce training will be included in the facility for use in recruiting new industry to the area, as well as assisting current industry with workforce development needs.
