Top UACCM Students Honored at UACCM Student Recognition Awards

The year's most outstanding students at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton were honored at the Student Recognition Awards Ceremony, an annual gathering of faculty, staff, and families joining students to celebrate their accomplishments. Every department nominates students to receive awards based on academic excellence in their field of study. Awards are also given from the UACCM Student Activities and the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society to outstanding students for their engagement at the college community and organization. A student ambassador is also selected as Ambassador of the Year. UACCM Esports Brings Competitive Gaming to Campus

  The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton esports club is accepting new members for the spring 2023 and fall 2023 semesters. The esports club is open to all UACCM students, and primarily focuses on Rocket League and Valorant. Practice is held Tuesdays at noon in the esports lab, found in the Fine Arts Building, Room 112. Participating students must maintain a 2.0 GPA. Aaron Bullock, faculty representative of the UACCM esports club, brought esports to UACCM because, “When COVID hit, it did a number on the comradery of the students. I wanted to give them something that would bring them together again outside of the classroom.” Bullock also believes the esports club offers more than just relational benefits, as the games they compete in require studying, problem-solving and critical thinking, which translate into skills such as programming, digital art, networking, and more. UACCM Phi Theta Kappa Earns Regional Recognition

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) was recognized at the 2023 Oklahoma/Arkansas Regional Convention in Broken Arrow, OK. UACCM PTK placed first in the Award of Distinction for Honors in Action Theme category for “Play it Forward.” Awards for Honors in Action are determined through an anonymous judging panel that utilizes a rubric for each of the different categories. The goal of the “Play it Forward” theme is to understand the relationship between play and innovation. UACCM PTK focused on the relationship between breaks taken during study sessions and the enhancement of learning.  UACCM PTK was also recognized in the top five of Honors in Action Research Projects, was named as a top five chapter in the region, given a 5-star rating following the international PTK plan, and UACCM PTK Advisor, Mathew Herrman, was recognized with the Continued Excellence in Advising Certificate of Merit. Rhea Lana Riner to Speak at UACCM for "Talks, Thoughts, and Treats" Series

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) will host Rhea Lana Riner on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at noon in the Student Union, as part of its “Talks, Thoughts, and Treats” speaker series.  Riner is the founder and namesake of “Rhea Lana’s,” a nationally recognized consignment shop. The shop began in 1997 and was operated from the Riner household with her husband, Dave. It has since grown to over 100 franchises in 24 states. Rhea Lana’s was entered into the Business Review’s Hall of Fame for being a Top Franchise for 10 straight years. Franchise Business Review also named Rhea Lana’s a Top Franchise for Women, and a Top Low-Cost Franchise. In 2021, Rhea Lana’s was featured in Entrepreneur’s List of Top 500 Franchises for 2021. This event is sponsored by the UACCM Diversity and Inclusion committee, and admission is open to all, free of charge.

Willenberg, Thomas Recognized by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) will recognize 28 college presidents, including University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s (UACCM) Chancellor Lisa Willenberg, with the Paragon Awards for New Presidents during PTK Catalyst 2023, the Society’s annual convention in Columbus, Ohio, April 20-22.  To be eligible for this award, college presidents and CEOs are new in their role having served less than 3 years. Recipients are nominated by students on their campus and are only eligible to receive the award once. The awardees were selected from among 406 college leaders across the nation. The award recognizes college presidents who have shown support of student success initiatives leading to stronger pathways to completion, transfer, and employment. The Chancellor’s List recognizes full-time students who completed at least 12 college-level credit hours with a 4.00 grade point average. WTC to be Named for Former Chancellor Dr. Larry D. Davis

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) will officially name the Workforce Training Center the Dr. Larry D. Davis Workforce Training Center to honor Dr. Larry D. Davis, who served as UACCM’s chancellor from September 2010 to January 2019. The Dr. Larry D. Davis Workforce Training Center recognizes Davis’ personal vision and foresight for the construction of the Workforce Training Center, benefitting not only UACCM students, but the entire state of Arkansas. The facility continues to be the model for workforce training facilities in the state. The University of Arkansas Board of Trustees approved the recognition for Davis during its Jan. 25-26 meeting of the Board. The UACCM Administration and Board of Visitors had previously voted unanimously to recommend consideration of the naming to the UA Board.   1098-T Statements for Tax Year 2022 are now available If you received aid or paid out of pocket for any tuition and fees during Calendar Year 2022 (January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022) you may be eligible to receive a 1098-T tax Tuition Statement from UACCM.  1098t statements can be found on http://1098tforms.com/. Please click on either “returning student login” if you used the website last year, or “to student enrollment page” if this is your first time on the website. Additional Instructions to download your 1098t form can be found here: https://1098tforms.com/instructions/ The 1098-T Tax Tuition Statement will summarize charges, payments and aid received during calendar year 2022.  Any CARES ACT/CRRSAA/ARPA HEERF funds received from UACCM during 2022, will not be reported on your 1098T statement, per the IRS.
