UACCM is happy to announce that 2023 will mark its 60th year as an institution. To commemorate 60 years of existence and educational training, a year-long celebration will take place.  The theme for the 60th year celebration is "Cheers to 60 Years," with sub-themes for several of the individual events throughout the year.  Each month of 2023 will feature a key event to celebrate the milestone, starting with the kickoff event in January, followed by the "A Moment in Time" gala in February, the "Links for Learning" golf tournament in June, a guest speaker from NASA in October, and many more throughout the year. Emily Lawrence, 18, of Oppelo was crowned Ms. UACCM 2022 after competing in the fourteenth annual UACCM Pageant on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s Fine Arts Auditorium. Lawrence is the daughter of David and Kathy Lawrence of Oppelo. She is in her first semester, pursuing an Associate of Science in Liberal Arts. Upon graduating from UACCM, Lawrence plans to pursue a master's degree in psychology to become a school counselor.   Lawrence was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the UACCM’s Chancellor’s Office and a floral bouquet courtesy of Plummer’s Flowers and Gifts, Morrilton.   The first runner-up, Abigail Valdez of Conway, was awarded a $500 scholarship from the UACCM Chancellor’s Office. She is the daughter of Fausto Valdez and Maybelline Hensley. The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) will host Sasha Bowles on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at noon in the Student Union, as part of its "Talks, Thoughts, and Treats," speaker series.  Bowles, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, serves as the President of the Arkansas Chapter of the Trail of Tears and is a National Trail of Tears Board Member. She has been employed by Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism as a Park Interpreter II at Lake Dardanelle State Park for 18 years, providing educational programming about the nature, history, and culture of the Lake Dardanelle area.  This event is sponsored by the UACCM Diversity and Inclusion committee, and admission is open to all with lunch provided free of charge. 

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton (UACCM) will receive a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) to build a new Allied Health and Science Center. This project will consolidate the school’s health professional training programs into one building and provide increased capacity to expand its programs. This EDA investment will be matched with $1.1 million in local funds. The EDA funds will be utilized for site development and infrastructure improvements to prepare the college’s proposed east side location along University Blvd. The facility will expand the current practical nursing, registered nursing, nursing assisting, dietary management, and STEM field transfer credentials and will also allow the college to explore added programming in other vital, in-demand health fields. “Receiving this grant will enable UACCM to greatly expand its educational and training opportunities in the sciences and medical pr...

Certificates and degrees are now available for all students who have graduated in May 2022 and have completed all required course work. By completing the Post Grad Survey online, graduates may indicate their preference of having the credentials mailed or held for pickup at the Registrar’s Office on the second floor in the University Center. All outstanding financial aid holds must be satisfied before awards will be released. The end of the 2022 Spring semester saw UACCM graduate 320 students who collectively earned 383 awards. Graduates who participated in the May 14 Commencement Ceremony received their diploma covers to symbolically mark their achievement. However, diplomas are only printed after requirements are checked for all graduates. The Registrar’s Office states that this process takes approximately six to eight weeks after the semester ends. We are back with another spotlight of our amazing alumni. Meet Kathy Brantley! Kathy attended UACCM from 2005 to 2007 and received her Associate of Arts in Teaching. Today, she serves as RTI Director at Quitman Public Schools. Why should students choose UACCM? I chose to attend UACCM because I wanted to be known as a person and not a number. The smaller class sizes afforded me the ability to learn better and to form lasting relationships with my teachers and classmates. I was also able to receive a transfer scholarship to finish my bachelor’s degree at UCA. What was your favorite thing about attending UACCM?
