UACCM Fall 2016 Graduation Ceremonies Schedule

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will hold five graduation ceremonies for its fall 2016 graduates beginning Monday, Dec. 5. Community Invited to Holiday Events at UACCM

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton invites the community to “The Gingerbread Man” on Nov. 29, followed by its 14th annual Night of Luminaries on Dec. 1. “The Gingerbread Man” is a touring production presented by the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre in Little Rock. Running from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the UACCM Fine Arts Auditorium, the show tells the classic fairy tale story of the Gingerbread Man, who attempts to outrun the local residents and a very sly fox. Tickets are now available, though limited to four per person. Admission is free and open to the public.   Night of Luminaries follows the Morrilton Christmas parade and will be held on campus. The sidewalks of UACCM will be lined with more than 2,000 luminary bags, decorated by Conway County children, and the community is invited to walk or drive through to view their artwork. Genita Whiting Named Outstanding Adult Education Teacher by AACAE

Genita Whiting, an adult education instructor at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, was given the Outstanding Adult Education Teacher award by the Arkansas Association of Continuing & Adult Education (AACAE) at the association’s 2016 conference in Hot Springs on Nov. 4. “Ms. Whiting provides her students with the spark of encouragement they need to feel empowered and realize they are capable of achieving their goals,” Kim Darling, the director of adult education at UACCM, wrote in her nomination letter to the association. “She is the reason UACCM’s Adult Education program has been and will continue to be a thriving program. Mikayla Lemley Named Miss UACCM 2016

Mikayla Lemley of Morrilton was crowned Miss UACCM 2016 after competing in the tenth annual UACCM Pageant on Nov. 5 in the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s Fine Arts Auditorium. Lemley, 18, is the daughter of Scott and Kim Lemley of Morrilton, and is a freshman at UACCM pursuing an Associate of Arts degree in general education. After completing the necessary courses, Lemley plans to transfer to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock to become a registered nurse specializing in neonatal care. While at Morrilton High School, she was selected as Most Outstanding in the high school band, as well as Vocational Student of the Week. Lemley was an active member of the National Beta Club throughout junior high and high school.
