School Counts! Receives Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation Grant

UACCM is the recipient of a $125,000 grant designed to increase high school graduation rates and improve higher education levels among students in Conway County. The Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation announced that its grant will help the Conway County School Counts! Initiative by providing support to coordinate the project. Previously, the School Counts Initiative was managed by volunteers.

“This grant enables the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton to provide much needed project coordination support to the initiative and strengthen its efforts to increase high school graduation rates reduce poverty,” said Dr. Sherece West, president and CEO of the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation. “This funding will be used to promote the value of higher education, advocate for and monitor students’ progress, and work with local business and industry leaders to identify workforce training needs.”

The grant is for three years and targets high school students and community members in the county. One of its goals is to encourage high school graduates to recognize the need for post-secondary education, to begin higher education at UACCM and to remain in Conway County as employees.

The School Counts! initiative is a local effort led by Conway County business, education and community leaders. The goal is to help students achieve success in the classroom, work place, and the community by raising funds locally to invest in the education of the county’s youth. Students who meet the yearly criteria upon graduation from participating high schools are eligible to receive up to $1,000 per semester to attend The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton.

“Support from the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation will give the initiative the basic support needed to grow and be successful,” said Dr. Thomas Flowers, a member of the School Counts! Steering Committee. “We will be able to reach more students, do a better job tracking them and anticipate positive movement in Conway County’s educational system.”

Student Onboarding Due March 25

In preparation for Fall 2024 advising & registration, students should log into Workday and complete a series of tasks called Student Onboarding : Students should log in to Workday and complete these tasks:  Navigate to  myapps.microsoft.com  in a web browser.  Log in with your UACCM email and password when prompted. You may also be prompted to authenticate using an authenticator app or secure code.  A dashboard with multiple apps will display. Locate the blue app titled “Workday” and select it.  You are now logged into Workday!  Once logged in, you will do the Federal Student Aid Authorization and then complete My Tasks .  This will include such things editing your contact information (if necessary), editing your personal information (if necessary), adding My Friends and Family (emergency contact information), and other tasks. When entering your My Friends and Family information, you must select Emergency Contact as one of the relationship types or you will get an error message .

UACCM Eclipse Parking

  The following guidelines apply to any vehicles parked on the UACCM campus at 8:00 a.m. on Monday. FOR VISITORS VIEWING ECLIPSE:  Purchase an eclipse parking pass for $100 from the either of the tents located on University Boulevard  (🟧 on map). You are allowed to park anywhere in eclipse parking (blue on map). FOR STUDENTS VIEWING ECLIPSE:  You are allowed to park in eclipse parking (blue on map), free of charge. You must present a valid and current UACCM Student ID at either tent located on University Boulevard (🟧 on map). A UACCM campus parking pass is also required.  FOR STUDENTS CONDUCTING BUSINESS: You may park in the parking lot in front of the UC and BTC (pink on map). You must present a valid and current UACCM Student ID at either tent located on University Boulevard (🟧 on map). A UACCM campus parking pass is also required.

Get to know Miss UACCM 2023

  Earlier this month, Zaybrau Williams, from Dardanelle, was named Miss UACCM in the fifteenth annual Miss UACCM pageant.  Zaybrau was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the UACCM’s Chancellor’s Office, a floral bouquet courtesy of Plummer’s Flowers and Gifts, Morrilton, and gifts cards from Elia’s Mexican Grill, Morrilton, and Red Barn Market, Conway. Get to know Miss UACCM 2023, Zaybrau Williams, a little more. Why did you choose UACCM? I chose UACCM because of the community size and the various opportunities that are available to me.
